What still works

Element balance, major configurations (T-square, grand trine, stellium), and the simple fact that Saturn squares your Sun — those sentences survive missing time. That is already more than a horoscope column.

What fails without a clock

The Ascendant is a local horizon event. No time, no rising sign. No rising sign, no house cusps you can defend. Any sentence that begins “your 7th house partner” or “your 10th house career” is then fan fiction.

Why noon is a trap

Software defaults to 12:00 because the Sun then sits near the MC and the wheel looks “balanced.” Clients screenshot that wheel and tattoo a rising sign they never had. Aurora Tikun will not print 12:00 as your hour.

If we must compute a diurnal position for the Moon, we say the method. The PDF language is “unknown time,” not “you are a Leo rising because noon looked nice.”

How to look for the hour

Start with paper: acta, hospital, midwife notes, a parent’s memory of “just after the football match” only if you can pin the match. In the United States, long-form birth certificates often include time; short forms often do not. In Mexico it varies by state and decade.

Do not pay a stranger to “channel” 3:33 because it is an angel number. Rectification from life events is a specialist craft and still an estimate. Our default paid natal PDF does not hide a rectification you did not ask for.

Questions that still deserve a paid chart

Why do I keep choosing the same kind of boss. Why does money arrive and leave on a schedule I can almost hum. Why do I write easily and speak badly, or the reverse. Those are planetary-conversation questions. They do not need a rising sign.

Questions that should wait: exact wedding windows, “what time should I file the LLC,” “is my soul a Scorpio rising.” Those are angle questions. Buy the reading later, when a relative finds the hospital extract.

A longer note on the Moon

The Moon is the fastest of the usual seven. In twenty-four hours it can change signs, change the aspect grid, and change the entire emotional thesis of a reading. Unknown-time charts therefore spend extra sentences on lunar uncertainty. If your date has a Moon at 29°, expect us to say so in the first page, not in a footnote.

Some apps hide that 29° by rounding. We would rather look pedantic.

Void-of-course Moon talk belongs to electional astrology (picking a moment to act). A natal Moon that was void at birth is a research curiosity, not a life sentence. We mention it only if the time is known. Without time, we do not pretend.

When relatives disagree on the hour

Mother says dawn. Father says after lunch. The aunt who was there says the radio was playing a song you cannot date. In that case the chart is unknown-time, period. A compromise like “10:00” is still a fiction. We can run two sketches if you pay for two — we will not average 6:00 and 14:00 into 10:00 and call it science.

Twins without times are two unknown-time charts, not a cute branding story. If you later get two different hospital minutes, then we can talk about why one twin’s life leaned harder on a house the other barely occupied.

Ordering with a blank clock

On the natal form, write “time unknown.” Do not enter 12:00 to make the validator happy if your validator allows blank. If the form requires a time field, use the placeholder we document on the product page and repeat “unknown” in notes. The writer reads notes before the wheel.

True node versus mean node is a technical choice we state. Both move slowly enough that unknown time rarely wrecks the sign of the node. Arabic Parts such as Fortuna, however, are usually Ascendant-based. No time, no Fortuna. We will not print a lucky point from a fake noon Ascendant.

Vertex, house-based lots, and timed profections belong on the “wait for the clock” shelf. If an app gave you a Vertex in a sign from 12:00, delete the Vertex, keep the planets.

What to do with the app you already used

Co-Star, The Pattern, and their cousins are not enemies. They are onboarding. Take their planetary list if it matches an ephemeris. Drop their rising-sign aesthetic if you never entered a time. Then read a human PDF if you want sentences that can say “I do not know.”

Apps cannot easily admit ignorance; their UI is a grid of certainty. Our commercial advantage is not mystique. It is the ability to write the word unknown.

Hospital midnight is another trap. A birth at 00:10 versus 23:50 can change the calendar date on a certificate in some jurisdictions. If your family argues about the date itself, stop all house talk and sort the civil record first. Two dates are two charts, not a poetic mystery.

If you were adopted and only have a season, we cannot honestly sell a natal PDF. Ask on WhatsApp what we can do with a window of dates; sometimes the answer is “not this product,” which is a better answer than a random Tuesday.

Keep the unknown-time PDF. When the hour later appears, you do not throw the planetary work away; you order a house add-on or a fresh wheel. We would rather sell you a second document than poison the first with a fictional Ascendant. That policy is slower money and better archives.

If a relative finds a time that is clearly a guess (“around three”), we still treat it as unknown unless they will put a clock on paper. Around-three is a kindness. It is not a coordinate.
